Qualcomm Technologies Launches Two Innovative IoT Device Families

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. introduces two Wi-Fi IoT device families designed to enhance energy efficiency and integration. The Qualcomm® QCC730 family, featuring Wi-Fi4 dual-band, targets ultra-low power battery applications, while the Qualcomm® QCC74x family, with its tri-radio and multimedia features, suits multifunctional, compact devices.

Both families are available at the international Design-In distributor CODICO.

QCC730: Up to 88% Energy Saving

The QCC730 IoT SoC offers up to 88% energy savings compared to previous solutions from Qualcomm Technologies, thanks to TSMC’s 22nm ULL process and Qualcomm’s new power management. Ideal for wireless cameras, smart locks, and sensors, it significantly extends battery life.

Built on an Arm® Cortex®-M4F processor (60MHz) with 1.5MB RRAM (NVM) and 640KB SRAM, the QCC730 also supports XiP technology for external flash execution. It runs Wi-Fi4 (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with a HT20 and MCS3 transceiver for reliable 16/23Mbps TCP/UDP throughput.

Security is prioritized with hardware-accelerated Secure Boot, Secure Storage, and Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). The device offers up to 15 GPIOs with configurable interfaces like SPI, I2C, and UART. QCC730 can operate in both, hostless (FreeRTOS) and hosted modes with any host CPU.

The device is offered in a 3.3x3.58x0.55 mm, 0.35mm pitch, 90-ball WLCSP package.

QCC74x: Tri-Radio and Multimedia

Adding Wi-Fi6, Bluetooth 5.4, and IEEE 802.15.4 (Thread/ZigBee-ready), the QCC74x family builds on the QCC730 with a 32-bit RISC-V CPU (up to 325MHz), multimedia support (audio/video codecs), and up to 35 GPIOs for both digital and analog interfaces.

Designed for smart appliances, industrial IoT, medical devices, and gateways, it comes in multiple versions (QFN-56/QFN-40 packages), with options for embedded memory and wide temperature ranges.

Development kits are available at CODICO’s Sample Shop.

For both device families Qualcomm Technologies offers also the corresponding module versions in different antenna, memory and interface configurations.
